Who we are
Central Carolina R/C Modelers is Charted Club #1257 of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. We are located in the Triad area of North Carolina, just south of High Point. We strive to provide a safe and enjoyable location to enjoy the sport of remote control flying. Visitors and fellow fliers are always welcome to stop in for some Southern Hospitality. Browse our website for more information.
The Central Carolina R/C Modelers was formed in the early 70’s by several local radio control enthusiasts. The field was located at a club member's back 40 until they outgrew the space. We moved to our current location in May of 1991 which covers around 10 acres. We have a dedicated helicopter field with shelter and landing pad. The clubhouse includes a well stocked kitchen with all the comforts of home, a shaded area for those warm summer days, two pit areas with electrical service, and a portable necessary room for quiet contemplation.
Approximately 80 enthusiasts make up our membership with ages ranging from 11 to 93. Our interests include sailplanes, electrics, sport planes, helicopters, and giant scale aircraft. Power is provided by electric, gas, and glow. And information is in an abundance. Just make a bouncy landing or a fancy takeoff and the experts will offer all the advice you need
During the year we host different events such as a Giant Scale Fly In, Electric Fly In and a few others. During the year, members make club trips to area swap shops and fly-ins, and the Joe Nall Giant Scale Fly-In in Woodruff, SC.
CCRCM has received the AMA Gold Leader Club Award every year since 2001. In order to recognize the leadership of the top model clubs in the country, the Academy of Model Aeronautics has established the AMA Leader Club Awards. These awards can be earned by any AMA chartered club, by meeting certain standards of community service and activity. There are three levels of AMA Leader Clubs: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Once a club meets the minimum criteria, it qualifies for different levels based on performance. The AMA has established 6 goals and nine electives to obtain Leader Club status. The ultimate recognition, the Gold level, requires that all goals be met and documented. Congratulations to all the club members!
Thanks for stopping by the web page. If you are in the area, please stop in and say hi.
Happy Flying Ya'll!
Central Carolina R/C Modelers is located just South of Archdale, NC in the Randleman community. It is a private field, restricted to CCR/C members and their guests. Visitors are always welcome when the field is open. The runway is Bermuda grass and is 600’ x 60’. We have a flyover area of 5 acres. The helicopter area is adjacent to the fixed wing runway. Control Line pilots are also welcome to use that area.
All members and guests must have current AMA membership in order to fly at our field. This is for everyone’s safety. Flying is a privilege of CCR/C Members, guests, and participants in Club Sanctioned Events. All pilots should follow AMA Safety guidelines and review the CCR/C Rules and Regulations before flying. They are posted on the Documents Page. Visiting pilots are allowed to try out flying at our field on 3 separate visits before being asked to join. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the field or attend a club meeting. The field is usually more active on weekends. During good weather though, some do sneak off on weekdays!
Flying is allowed during the following schedule:
Monday through Saturday - 7 am to Dusk
Sunday - {electrics only} - 7 am to Noon
Sunday - All power types - Noon to Dusk
